Assault on Bus Driver Leads to Arrest of 46-Year-Old Suspect in St. Petersburg

 


St. Petersburg, Fla -In a recent development, authorities in St. Petersburg, Florida have apprehended a 46-year-old man in connection with an assault on a Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) bus driver earlier this week.

Obdulio Chacon has been taken into custody and now faces a charge of aggravated battery. The incident transpired shortly after 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The St. Petersburg Police Department reported that the PSTA driver was on a break near the entrance to the St. Pete Pier.

As the driver attempted to reboard the trolley to resume his route, he was attacked by an individual later identified as Chacon, according to a statement released by the police.

Subsequently, the bus driver was transported by ambulance to the hospital with injuries that were deemed non-life threatening. The identity of the driver has not been disclosed at this time.

The Largo Police Department provided assistance in effecting the arrest.
