LAS VEGAS — In the aftermath of a tragic hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a 63-year-old man, a 25-year-old driver, Alexis Pineda, is now confronting a slew of charges.
Las Vegas Metropolitan police have reported that Pineda was operating a stolen pickup truck at a high rate of speed, disregarded a stop sign, and collided with a Dodge Challenger, ultimately leading to the fatality of a passenger in the Dodge Challenger.
Based on information from Clark County Detention records, Pineda is now being held accountable for a range of offenses, which include "DUI resulting in death," "possessing a stolen vehicle," "reckless driving resulting in death or substantial bodily harm," and "leaving the scene of a crash."
This tragic incident unfolded on a Sunday afternoon, shortly before 3 p.m., at the intersection of W. Laredo Street and S. Torrey Pines Drive.
Following the collision, law enforcement authorities have disclosed that Pineda, along with two of his three passengers, fled the scene on foot. However, they were apprehended shortly thereafter. It is worth noting that one of Pineda's passengers sustained serious injuries during the incident.
The identity of the Massachusetts man who lost his life in the accident will be disclosed by the Clark County coroner's office.
Pineda is scheduled to appear in court on Monday afternoon to address the charges levied against him.
