Elon Musk Joins Calls for Mitch McConnell to Step Down

Renowned entrepreneur Elon Musk has added his voice to the growing chorus urging Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to relinquish his leadership position within the GOP.

"Seriously, it's time for Mitch to move on," Musk declared in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

In a subsequent post, Musk shared a video clip of McConnell appearing disoriented during a press conference in August.

The recent instances of McConnell appearing frozen and disoriented while addressing the media have raised concerns about his well-being. In July, McConnell was abruptly escorted away from the podium during a Senate Republicans' weekly press conference, only to return later, assuring reporters that he felt "fine."

Again, in August, McConnell faced a similar situation at a press conference in Kentucky. A spokesperson later clarified that McConnell had experienced a moment of lightheadedness.

Despite these incidents, McConnell has expressed his intention to complete his term as leader and senator.

This isn't the first time Musk has commented on the effectiveness of senior politicians. In July 2022, he advocated for former President Donald Trump's retirement from politics, suggesting that it was time for Trump, who had just celebrated his 77th birthday, to step aside.

Musk even proposed establishing an age limit for presidential candidates, stating, "I think the legal maximum age for the start of a Presidential term should be 69."

It's evident that Musk leans towards supporting younger politicians like presidential hopeful and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. In November, he voiced his endorsement for DeSantis, and in May, he hosted DeSantis' campaign launch on X, an event marked by technical issues.

As of the time of reporting, representatives for both Musk and McConnell have not provided additional comments.
