Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, has voiced his support for Russell Brand, who is facing anticipated "serious criminal allegations" as part of an investigation by UK Channel 4's Dispatches program, set to air this weekend.
While the Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor has not yet publicly addressed the charges, he preemptively responded in a two-minute YouTube video before the episode's broadcast. In the video, the 48-year-old star "absolutely refuted" the accusations presented in a letter and email he received from two media outlets, asserting that they constituted a "coordinated attack" aimed at silencing him.
Billionaire entrepreneur Musk swiftly shared his perspective and extended his support to Russell after the latter posted a link to the video on Twitter, commenting: “Of course. They don't like competition.”
Russell, through his popular YouTube channel boasting over 6 million subscribers, regularly questions mainstream media, as noted in Musk's tweet.
In his statement, Brand stated: “It's been clear to me, or at least it feels to me, that there is this serious and concerted agenda to control these kind of spaces and these kind of voices - and I mean my voice along with your voice. I don't mind them using my books and my stand up to talk about my promiscuous, consensual conduct in the past. What I seriously refute are these very, very serious criminal allegations.”
