Meta Unveils Groundbreaking Meta Quest 3: A Leap Forward in AR Technology


In a pivotal move to assert dominance in the augmented reality (AR) arena, Meta has introduced the eagerly awaited Meta Quest 3. The announcement was made by CEO Mark Zuckerberg during the virtual Meta Connect event held on Wednesday, showcasing a complete overhaul of its predecessors. Priced at $500, the Quest 3 promises enhanced performance, an array of immersive mixed-reality features, and a refined, ergonomic design.

This latest iteration boasts a significantly more robust processor, a high-resolution display, upgraded Touch Plus controllers, and a 40% reduction in overall size. Contrasting its predecessors, the Meta Quest 2 confines users to a strictly virtual reality experience, while the Meta Quest Pro, with advanced passthrough cameras for environmental awareness, comes at a hefty $1,000 price tag.

Of paramount importance is the Quest 3's integration of Meta Reality, allowing users to partake in mixed-reality escapades that seamlessly blend the physical and virtual realms. The Meta Quest's extensive virtual library is fully accessible with the Quest 3, now featuring the VR-friendly Roblox, released on Wednesday, with plans to incorporate Xbox cloud gaming in December, offering gamers access to titles like Halo and Minecraft on an expansive screen, irrespective of location.

Available for pre-order now, the headset is slated for official release on October 10th, with two storage options, 128GB and 512GB.

This unveiling follows three years after the Quest 2, less than a year after the Quest Pro, and a mere four months after the introduction of Apple's Vision Pro.
