San Antonio Woman Charged in Murder-for-Hire Plot to Face Trial Later This Year

San Antonio, TX — Christina Rodriguez, the woman facing charges of capital murder for her alleged involvement in a murder-for-hire plot targeting her friend, Michael Perez, has learned that her trial is scheduled for later this year.

The shocking case unfolded in February 2019 when Perez was tragically shot to death in close proximity to both his residence and Rodriguez's home.

In a recent development, the co-defendant in the case, John Cantu, who is believed to be the gunman, was found guilty of the lesser charge of murder. He now awaits sentencing for his role in the crime.

Adding a layer of complexity to the case, Rodriguez's husband, Manuel Cantu, who happens to be the brother of John Cantu, is also awaiting a trial date.

During a hearing held in the 186th District Court on Thursday, it was decided that Rodriguez's trial is slated to commence on December 11. This trial will shed further light on the alleged murder-for-hire plot that has left the community stunned and eager for justice.
