Largo, Florida- At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a shooting occurred at Stout’s Auto Service in Largo, resulting in injuries to two men, including the suspected assailant.
The incident unfolded at 1801 S. Belcher Road, prompting a substantial police presence and the temporary closure of a major thoroughfare for safety. The affected road has since been reopened.
Authorities have confirmed the apprehension of the alleged perpetrator, who sustained injuries and is currently hospitalized. The second individual involved in the altercation was also transported to a medical facility.
According to police reports, the suspect entered the auto establishment and initiated gunfire. An employee of the business was among those wounded. Notably, the suspect did not sustain gunshot wounds from law enforcement.
At the scene, two firearms were discovered by authorities.
Largo Police Chief Mike Loux stated, "We talked to some of the employees that came out, some of the witnesses that were in the area, based on how they identified the aggressor in this incident and being familiar with the two persons that were shot, we’re confident that that was of the shooters."
The next phase of the investigation will involve determining if any surveillance cameras were operational during the incident and if there were additional witnesses who can contribute to the inquiry.
As of now, the identities of those involved in the shooting have not been disclosed.
Officials have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the area, and the investigation is actively progressing.
