Suspect Arrested in Downtown San Jose Sexual Assault Case



San Jose, California - Authorities have arrested a suspect on multiple felony charges in connection with a sexual assault that occurred near downtown San Jose last week, according to a statement released on Wednesday by the San Jose Police Department.


The incident unfolded on September 19 at a business situated on the 400 block of E. Santa Clara Street, just one block north of San Jose State University. In this distressing incident, a lone employee at the establishment was brutally assaulted.


Promptly responding to the incident, San Jose Police officers and detectives from the sexual assault unit initiated an investigation. Through their diligent efforts, they gathered crucial evidence that ultimately led to the identification of the primary suspect, 42-year-old San Jose resident Miguel Rivera.


On September 20, equipped with both an arrest warrant and a search warrant, detectives apprehended Rivera in San Jose. He was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail and now faces an array of serious charges, including assault with intent to commit a felony, kidnapping with intent to commit a sexual offense, attempted robbery, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, battery causing great bodily injury, and false imprisonment.
