Suspect Charged in St. Louis Dutchtown Homicide

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office has formally charged 43-year-old Robert Eugene Bunger in connection with a fatal incident that occurred in St. Louis' Dutchtown neighborhood back in June.

On June 28, Jordan Harris, 44, was discovered unresponsive on a sidewalk within the 3400 block of Montana. Law enforcement apprehended a suspect at the scene, but tragically, Harris was declared deceased the following day.

Following a comprehensive investigation, the St. Louis Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the nature of Harris' demise as a homicide on August 16. Consequently, a warrant was issued for Bunger's arrest in connection with the case. He faces charges of second-degree murder and third-degree assault of a special victim.

According to a probable cause statement against Bunger, witnesses contacted 911 while recording an incident in which Bunger was seen kicking and striking Harris with various objects. The statement asserts that Harris' death resulted from "stress and physical injuries caused by the defendant’s assault of the victim," further noting that Bunger and Harris were acquainted.

Currently, Bunger is in custody without bond.
