San Jose, CA - In a grim turn of events, another pedestrian lost their life early Tuesday morning in East San Jose, making it the third pedestrian fatality within the city in just four days.
The incident unfolded at approximately 3:25 a.m. on Tuesday when San Jose law enforcement swiftly responded to a distressing scene: a vehicular collision involving a pedestrian in the 40 Block of South Jackson Avenue, as confirmed by the local police.
A male pedestrian navigating the area was struck by a vehicle and, regrettably, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the police statement.
Fortunately, the driver responsible for the tragic accident remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the ongoing investigation, police officials reported.
Given the ongoing investigation, authorities have cautioned the public to steer clear of the affected area, with the potential for traffic disruptions.
This heartbreaking incident comes closely on the heels of two other pedestrian fatalities in San Jose. On Monday, a man met a tragic end while walking in the Willow Glen neighborhood, and just last Friday, a man using a mobility scooter was fatally struck in the Rose Glen neighborhood.
The collision on Tuesday morning marks the 38th fatal crash and the 23rd pedestrian fatality in San Jose for the year, underscoring the pressing need for enhanced safety measures and awareness within the city's streets.
