Idaho State Police (ISP) have reported a fatal incident involving a semi-truck and a pedestrian just east of Twin Falls on I-84. The unfortunate incident occurred in Jerome County on Saturday, Sept. 23 at approximately 7:30 p.m., near milepost 183.
According to the official statement released, a 75-year-old male from Anaheim, CA, was operating a 2021 Freightliner semi-truck in the westbound lane of Interstate 84. Regrettably, he entered a closed lane within a construction zone. The semi-truck proceeded through multiple traffic control measures before colliding with a 22-year-old pedestrian from Filer. Subsequently, the semi-truck continued its westbound trajectory, ultimately striking a 2022 Ford Ranger and coming to a halt.
Tragically, the pedestrian from Filer lost his life in the collision, and no further injuries were reported. Exit 182 west remained closed for nearly six hours following the incident. The investigation into the crash is actively being conducted by ISP.
