Tragic Incident Claims Life of 3-Year-Old Struck by Vehicle in Wilmington

 


Wilmington, DELAWARE- In a devastating turn of events, a 3-year-old boy who was struck by a vehicle in Wilmington's Riverfront area on Sunday morning has succumbed to his injuries.


The Wilmington Police Department responded to the distressing scene in the 500 block of S. Madison St. at 10 a.m. following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers discovered the young child who had been hit by a vehicle.


Despite being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, the child tragically did not survive his injuries. The vehicle involved in the incident remained at the scene, as reported by the police.


Additional details regarding the incident were not provided by Wilmington police. However, the Wilmington Fire Department released a statement revealing that the incident involved an off-duty Wilmington firefighter and occurred on the 500 block of Justison St.


Wilmington Fire Chief John Looney expressed that more information would be made available at noon on Monday.
