Tragic Weekend: Huntington County Coroner Identifies Victims in Two Separate Crashes

 


Huntington County, INDIANA- The Huntington County Coroner has released the identities of the victims involved in two distinct accidents that occurred over the weekend.


The initial incident unfolded on SR 105 at CR 800 South in Wayne Township on Friday. Tragically, Sharlene R. Rhodes, 31, of Marion, lost her life due to severe blunt force impact injuries. While her passing has been deemed an accident, a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances of the crash remains ongoing.


In the second event, transpiring in the early hours of Saturday on SR 9 in Polk Township, a collision between a truck and a bicyclist took place. Christopher D. Sherron, 34, of Marion, was struck from behind. According to law enforcement, the truck's driver left the scene, returning approximately 20 minutes later before contacting 911.


Regrettably, Sherron sustained blunt impact injuries to his head and neck, resulting in his untimely demise. His passing has been officially categorized as accidental.


As of now, the driver of the truck remains unidentified by authorities. They have been taken into custody and are currently held at the Huntington County Jail, facing a series of charges linked to the collision. The investigation into this incident is actively ongoing, as confirmed by the coroner.
