Woman Found Dead at Park Entrance in Pike Creek Identified

 


Pike Creek, Delaware- In a somber turn of events, authorities in New Castle County have identified the deceased woman discovered at the entrance of a park on Tuesday.


The victim has been identified as 63-year-old Cynthia Amalfitano, a resident of Wilmington, Delaware.


Amalfitano's lifeless body was located around 9 a.m. near Skyline Drive at Carousel Park in Pike Creek.


While the New Castle County police have labeled her death as suspicious, the specific cause has not yet been disclosed.


Amalfitano had been reported missing by local law enforcement since Monday.


Officers responded to her residence on the 3400 block of Birch Circle for a welfare check when she failed to show up for work that morning. At her home, they discovered her vehicle along with personal items such as her purse and cellphone.


Her last confirmed sighting was on Saturday, September 23.


A Gold Alert was activated in her case when she was reported missing, but it has since been rescinded.


The investigation into this tragic incident remains an active and ongoing process.
