Blackpink's Jennie is gearing up to unveil a new solo track this week. The singer took to the group's official Instagram to announce the upcoming release of her "special single" titled "You & Me," scheduled to drop on Friday (Oct. 6). The announcement was accompanied by a striking image of Jennie donning a red ruffled shirt and matching top, standing in the ocean against the backdrop of a full moon.
According to reports from NME, the song made its debut during the opening date of Blackpink's Born Pink world tour at the KSPO Dome in Seoul last October. A remixed version of the track was also showcased during the band's performance at Coachella earlier this year.
This release marks Jennie's first solo venture since her 2018 debut single, "Solo," which soared to No. 1 on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart in November 2018. Despite critical reception, Jennie's role in The Weeknd's HBO drama series, "The Idol," stood out as one of the notable highlights in the music industry narrative.
One of the standout moments from the show was the emotionally-charged track "One of the Girls," addressing themes of fame, control, desire, and vulnerability during intimate moments. The song featured Jennie, show star Lily-Rose Depp, and The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye by birth).
Blackpink concluded their Born Pink Encore Tour with a final show at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on August 26. The tour included stadium performances in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Rutherford (New Jersey), and two shows at Foro Sol in Mexico City.
