ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Police Department has announced the arrest of a second individual in connection with a shooting that occurred at an Orlando apartment complex last month, resulting in one fatality and injuries to three others.
In an official statement, authorities revealed that 18-year-old Gary Lee Williams III was taken into custody on Tuesday.
The incident unfolded on September 22 at the Jernigan Gardens Apartments when a significant altercation erupted among a large group of individuals in the courtyard, as explained by officers.
The altercation escalated into gunfire, leaving four people wounded. Tragically, 22-year-old Macayla Queen succumbed to her injuries the following morning, as confirmed by the Orlando Police Department.
Williams' arrest constitutes the second in relation to the shooting, with 23-year-old Delray Shundale Duncan Junior having been arrested shortly after the incident occurred.
Both Williams and Junior are facing charges of first-degree murder. In addition to this charge, Junior is also facing an attempted homicide charge.
Recent events have raised concerns about safety in the Jernigan Gardens Apartments, which has experienced three separate shooting incidents over the past two weeks. Local leaders have expressed apprehension regarding the area's security.
Resident Junay Morris shared her concerns, stating, "Every parent over here is concerned about their kids and doing the utmost to keep their kids safe," as reported by News 6.
