Toledo Police Officer Faces Rape Charge: Wood County Grand Jury Indicts

 


BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - On October 5, a Wood County grand jury indicted a Toledo Police officer on a rape charge.


Court records state that Raul Jaso, 34, is accused of purposefully compelling the victim to submit through force or the threat of force. The alleged incident occurred on August 14.


As of now, Jaso has not been apprehended. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 16.


On October 4, 2023, a Toledo Police Officer was indicted by a Wood County Grand Jury for Rape.


On August 16, 2023, the Toledo Police Department was alerted by Northwood Police about an ongoing sexual assault investigation involving Toledo Police Officer Raul Jaso. Following this notification, the Toledo Police Department’s Internal Affairs Bureau launched an internal inquiry. Officer Jaso, a six-year veteran of the department, has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the resolution of his criminal case. He is typically assigned to Field Operations.


"Immediate actions were taken upon receiving notification of the investigation regarding Officer Jaso, including relieving him of his regular duties pending the outcome of both the criminal and internal investigations.
