Tragic Plane Crash Claims Two Lives and Injures One in Newberg Home

NEWPORT, Ore. — A devastating incident unfolded in Newberg on Tuesday night as a small plane crashed into a residential home, resulting in the tragic deaths of two individuals on board, with one person sustaining severe injuries, according to the Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVF&R).

Reports began flooding into 911 at approximately 7 p.m., with witnesses describing a distressing scene of a plane spiraling toward the ground. The aircraft ultimately collided with a home situated on North Cedar Street.

Fortunately, no individuals on the ground were harmed during the incident.

Initially, TVF&R spokesperson Jacob Fuhrer indicated that the home was unoccupied at the time of the crash. However, subsequent interviews with the homeowners revealed that there were occupants inside the house, all of whom managed to exit safely.

Emergency response teams swiftly determined that one of the plane's occupants had tragically lost their life in the crash. Later, as they gained further access to the wreckage, they discovered another individual, also deceased. A third occupant was transported to the hospital via helicopter, suffering from severe injuries.

The collision inflicted substantial damage, creating a sizable hole in the roof, and the plane remained lodged inside the residence as of shortly before 9 p.m.

Fuhrer stated that investigations into the cause of the crash would be carried out by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

In the wake of the disaster, TVF&R is collaborating with the Red Cross to assist the homeowners who have been displaced due to the crash.
