ST. LOUIS - In St. Louis Circuit Court on Tuesday, a woman made a guilty plea to a lesser charge in connection with the death of her girlfriend.
Claytiana Bolar, 23, entered a guilty plea for voluntary manslaughter related to the shooting death of Brittany Gregory.
On February 25, 2022, Gregory, aged 24, was discovered deceased behind the wheel of an SUV in the 5100 block of Greer Avenue.
According to law enforcement and prosecutors, an altercation erupted between Bolar and Gregory inside the SUV. Bolar obtained a firearm, exited the vehicle, and proceeded to fire shots into the SUV, ultimately hitting Gregory twice.
Subsequently, the murder weapon was located at Bolar's stepmother's residence.
Initially facing charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action, Bolar agreed to a reduced charge in exchange for her guilty plea, as permitted by the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office.
During Tuesday's court proceedings, Gregory's sister addressed the court, expressing her belief that Bolar should have been charged with murder rather than manslaughter. "I want to know if it was worth it, Ms. Bolar," she remarked.
Bolar chose not to make a statement to the court.
As a result of the proceedings, a circuit court judge sentenced Bolar to 15 years in prison.
