Newark, Delaware - A devastating accident that occurred on August 29 in Newark, Delaware, has claimed the life of a 62-year-old woman.
The incident took place around 5:27 p.m. when a green 2015 Chevrolet Cruze was heading down Harvey Road, nearing the intersection with Harmony Crest Drive. Simultaneously, a gray 2015 Ford Edge was stationary at a stop sign on Harmony Crest Drive, according to authorities.
As the Ford initiated a left turn onto the northbound lane, it collided with the front left side of the Chevrolet. The impact propelled the Chevrolet off the road, causing it to veer onto the shoulder, where its right front tire struck a curb, as detailed by the police.
The 62-year-old woman, who was behind the wheel of the Chevrolet and a resident of Wilmington, Delaware, was promptly transported to the hospital and listed in critical condition. Tragically, on October 2, she succumbed to her injuries, as confirmed by the Delaware State Police.
While the authorities work through the investigation, the identity of the deceased has not been disclosed, allowing time for her family and friends to be notified.
The driver of the Ford, a 54-year-old man also hailing from Wilmington, emerged from the incident unharmed. He was cited by the police on the day of the crash.
